Overview

The HLT35021 – Certificate III in Dental Assisting qualification reflects the role of workers who assist dental practitioners during oral health care procedures. The role includes:

  • Maintaining high infection control standards.
  • Assisting with practice administration.
  • Supporting quality and professionalism in the dental sector.

Dental assistants are frequently the first point of contact for patients, allowing them to make the practice friendly and give high-quality care. Client service delivery, administrative activities such as reception, appointment scheduling, payment and receipts, and clinical management will all be handled by dental assistants. Dental assistants can also serve as health promotion and clinic management advocates.

Admission Requirements

However, there are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, but applicants should demonstrate the ability to perform tasks as required by the health industry.

18 years of age and above at the time of commencement of the course.

Satisfactory completion of studies in applicant’s home country equivalent to an Australian Year 10 course is required for entry into this course.

Students may undergo language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) to identify Language, Literacy and Numeracy capabilities at the time of Orientation (prior to commencing the courses).

Students over the age of 22 will also be considered without the minimum education requirements. Each case will be reviewed individually to ascertain the capacity of the student to meet course requirements.

Digital Literacy

Student must possess basic computer skills which includes covering the most common usages of a computer, including managing computer files, word processing, using spreadsheets and databases; creating presentations; finding information and communicating using computers; and being aware of social and ethical implications of Internet use.

Placement

Professional Experience Placement (PEP) is an essential component of this course.IHNA provides Professional Experience Placement for all its student studying Certificate III in Dental Assisting Students will commence 350 hours of PEP upon completion of theory assessments including simulation-based assessment (SBA). During the PEP, students will apply the required essential knowledge and skills to demonstrate competency for each unit of this course.

Each student will work in pairs with a buddy staff member under the supervision of the workplace supervisor at the facility during the PEP.

An IHNA trainer and assessor will monitor the student’s progress during the PEP. All PEPs are arranged by IHNA.

Note: Where a student breaches the PEP requirements as stated in the Entry Requirements, they could be excluded from their PEP. IHNA will not be responsible for any such exclusion.

PTR: Once you’ve met IHNA’s eligibility criteria, you will be contacted by an admission consultant, followed by a pre-training review

Fees: Login credentials, user guide, conditional offer letter and invoice will be sent to your email, and pay your tuition fees.

Confirmation of Admission: We will issue a confirmation of admission once the enrolment fee has been received.

Orientation: We will send you the details of the online orientation.

Access: Once the orientation is completed, explore the learning resources and start learning on your learning platform.

RPL
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Students must submit a portfolio of past evidence, which may include third-party assessments, and partaking in an interview procedure. They can further have their prior learning and work experiences acknowledged in this certification. A practical demonstration of the portfolio presented by the students may also be used to evaluate student’s competencies and expertise, which will give the educators a clear idea. In addition to this mutual recognition and credit transfer allow students to have their previous formal training recognized.
