Course Overview
This skill set aims to support the entry level skilling of aged care and disability support workforce. The skill set will provide learners with the skills and knowledge required to provide support to fully qualified careers whilst adapting to the new risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Purpose
This skill set addresses the abilities and knowledge needed to provide entry-level client care for a variety of jobs and purposes in the aged care and disability support sectors. To ensure the safety of both the learner and the client in care, the support provided in client care will be primarily non-direct, with some basic direct client care.
Who should have this skill set?
As an entry-level skill set, this training is aimed at those with acceptable characteristics but no prior work experience in the elderly care or disability assistance sectors. This certification is used for:

- Parents with young children
- A young person looking to get into the workforce
- People seeking a new career
- For those looking to learn new skills, or
- For those who want to train but may not want to commit to completing a complete certificate such as a Certificate III or diploma,
Units of competency within the skillset
- CHCCCS015 – Provide individualized support
- HLTINF006 – Apply basic principles and practices of infection prevention and control.
- HLTWHS002 – Follow safe work practices for direct client care.
These HLT Health and CHC Community Services Training Packages units of competency meet industry criteria for basic entry-level care in aged care and disability support contexts.
This unit’s skills must be used in line with federal and state/territory legislation, Australian and New Zealand standards, and industry codes of practice.

IHNA Online Admission requirements
There is no formal entry requirements for this course, however applicants should demonstrate ability to perform task as required by the industry.
Applicants are required to be 16+ years old and above.
Successful completion of an ACSF test with demonstrated competence as per IHNA Online LLN requirements (issued within the last 12 months from the time of admission).
It is also essential for students to possess basic computer skills.
Digital literacy
Student must possess basic computer skills which includes covering the most common usages of a computer, including managing computer files, word processing, using spreadsheets and databases; creating presentations; finding information and communicating using computers; and being aware of social and ethical implications of Internet use.
Additional Requirements
We have listed down a few additional requirements for professional experience placement check below:
- A satisfactory National Police Clearance / Australian Federal Police Clearance Certificate (AFP) / NCC will be required for all practical placements.
- Working with children check.
- Applicable immunization certification like COVID-19 Certificate – IHNA Online highly recommends students to complete the immunization process before the Professional Experience Placement start date as some facilities will not provide placement to student without immunization.
