IHNA Online Admission requirements

There are no mandatory entry requirements for this qualification, however following IHNA Online admission criteria will be applicable:

17 years and 03 months of age and above at the time of commencement of the course

Successful completion of an Australian Year 10 qualification or equivalent.

Mature age students (22+) may also be considered without the minimum education requirements. Each case will be reviewed individually to ascertain the capacity of the applicant to meet course requirements.

Additional Requirements
Digital literacy
  • Should possess basic computer skills covering the most common usages of a computer, including managing computer files, word processing, using spreadsheets and databases; creating presentations; finding information and communicating using computers; and being aware of social and ethical implications of Internet use
  • Students should be in possession of their own laptops to facilitate the training and assessment. Recommended Laptop requirements: Core i3 Processor, 4 GB of RAM, Operating system; Windows 7 or later version, Screen; 10” or higher, Microsoft Office or Open Office Program, Adobe Reader and Antivirus Program.
Professional Experience Placement Requirements
  • A National Police Clearance or Australian Federal Police (AFP) Clearance certificate
  • Immunisation is required prior to undertaking ‘Professional Experience Placement’(PEP) in healthcare facilities.
  • Please declare in your application if you have a disability, disorder, or if you’re on any medication that’ll require reasonable adjustments to fulfil these requirements.
  • Working with Children Check: Student may have the opportunity to work with patients under the age of 18. However, before Student can be allowed contact with these minors Student needs to obtain a Working with Children (WWC) Check.

  • Physical requirements that are necessary to pass the course objectives are:
    • Strength: To assist with lifting and transferring a client, and perform CPR
    • Mobility: To bend, stoop, and bend down to the floor; ability to move around rapidly; and to move in small, confined spaces
    • Hearing: To hear through the stethoscope to discriminate sounds; to hear cries for help; to hear alarms on equipment and emergency signals; and various overhead pages
    • Vision: To make physical assessments of client and equipment
    • Communication: To communicate in both verbal and written formats; and interact with clients, staff, and faculty supervisors

    Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

    Students must submit a portfolio of past evidence, which may include third-party assessments, and partaking in an interview procedure. They can further have their prior learning and work experiences acknowledged in this certification. A practical demonstration of the portfolio presented by the students may also be used to evaluate student’s competencies and expertise, which will give the educators a clear idea. In addition to this mutual recognition and credit transfer allow students to have their previous formal training recognized.

    Credit Transfer

    Credit Transfer is only available for Australian qualifications when a student has completed the units considered necessary for a qualification at another registered training organization.

    Evidence required

    Among the other evidence, we require a list of:

    • A statement of attainment or tetramer and transcript is required
    • If it is possible to access the students’ USI transcript with their permission; to obtain evidence of completed national recognized training.
    • Applicants for credit transfer must complete the credit transfer application form, attach a copy of a verified award or statement of attainment, and submit the application to the course coordinator.
    • The course coordinator will further check the submitted award or statement of attainment and grant credit transfer for identical units that have been identified as being completed at another registered training organization.
    • The student and the course coordinator must sign the completed credit transfer record.
    • Student’s individual training plans will be adjusted to reflect any credit transfer granted.
